Lincoln Memorial and West Texas A&M Added to

2022 SCB National HOF Classic

Kansas City, MO – Small College Basketball is pleased to announce that Lincoln Memorial University and West Texas A&M have been added to the 2022 SCB National Hall of Fame Classic. The 2022 SCB National Hall of Fame Classic is scheduled to take place in Lakeland, FL on November 5th and 6th. This year’s event will take place on the campus of Florida Southern College, inside of Jenkins Fieldhouse. The event will also be supported by Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing. John McCarthy had this to say about the addition of Lincoln Memorial and West Texas A&M to the 2022 SCB National Hall of Fame Classic:

“We’re thrilled to add two of the top basketball programs in NCAA Division II basketball to the 2022 SCB Hall of Fame Classic!  This is awesome!  Lincoln Memorial and West Texas A&M met in the 2019 SCB Hall of Fame Classic, and it was an overtime thriller.  They then met in the NCAA Division II National Semi-Finals in 2021, and had another classic buzzer-beater to send West Texas A&M to the National Championship game.  These are two terrific teams with outstanding coaches (Tom Brown at West Texas A&M and Jeremiah Samarrippas at Lincoln Memorial), and I really look forward to seeing them compete in November.”

Lincoln Memorial finished the 2021-22 campaign with a record of 26-5. The Railsplitters won the South Atlantic Conference regular season, before falling in the semifinals of the conference tournament.  The Railsplitters earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament, and reached the Round of 32. LMU will tip off the SCB National Hall of Fame Classic against Valdosta State on Saturday November 5th. On Sunday the 6th the Railsplitters will go up against Alabama – Huntsville. Head Coach Jeremiah Samarrippas had this to say about participating in the SCB National Hall of Fame Classic:

"We are grateful and honored to participate in the SCB Hall of Fame Classic to start our season,” stated Samarrippas. “This classic is loaded with some of the nation’s elite D2 programs and is by far the most prestigious in-season event in the country. We’d like to thank John McCarthy and Small College Basketball for the opportunity to return and represent LMU on a national stage."

The West Texas A&M Buffaloes finished the 2021-22 campaign with a record of 29-7. After earning the number two seed in the Lone Star Conference tournament, the Buffaloes went on to win three straight games to claim the tournament championship. The Buffaloes picked up a victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Black Hills State. To open the SCB National Hall of Fame Classic the Buffaloes will take on Northwest Missouri State at 8:00 pm on Saturday November 5th. On Sunday November 6th the Buffaloes will take on the host Florida Southern. Head Coach Tom Brown spoke on the significance of participating in the SCB National Hall of Fame Classic:

“We are grateful to be invited back to the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic,” stated Brown. “In my experience, I believe the HOF Classic is the premier tip-off event to start the NCAA D2 season. We are looking forward to the incredibly high level of competition that this classic offers our squad. The last time we played in the Hall of Fame Classic was in 2019. We are excited to make the trip to the Sunshine State in early November!”

The event will include five games on Saturday and Sunday. Below are the updated matchups for this year’s event. For more information on the National Hall of Fame Classic and Small College Basketball please head to smallcollegebasketball.com.
