Kansas City, Mo. – Small College Basketball (SCB) and Founder John McCarthy is pleased to announce the hiring of Matt Ankenbrandt as the new Sports Information Director. Ankenbrandt most recently was the Sports Information Director for the Small College Basketball Alumni Association.

“Both personally and professionally, I am thrilled that Matt Ankenbrandt is our new Sports Information Director for Small College Basketball,” stated John McCarthy. “I’ve known him for years, and I’ve worked with him previously. It’s been exciting to watch him grow in his career, and I’m really looking forward to working with Matt as we continue to grow and enhance Small College Basketball. He’s a first-class person that does really good, thorough work.”

Ankenbrandt is currently the Director of Financial and Operational Affairs at Lindenwood University – Belleville located in Belleville, IL. In this role, Ankenbrandt oversees the day-to-day financial operations of the campus, including approving all expenses, invoices, and purchase orders. He also acts a liaison to a number of departments on campus.

“John has done such an amazing job growing Small College Basketball,” stated Ankenbrandt. “His vision and drive are second to none and I am honored that I get the opportunity to work alongside of him.”

Previously, Ankenbrandt was the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. He constructed and implemented the athletic department budget and was the final approver of all expenses. During his three years in the role, he was the direct report for 12 sports, oversaw the facilities, and worked daily with enrollment management on athletic recruiting.

 

Prior to his role as Assistant Athletic Director, Ankenbrandt was the Sports Information Director. Ankenbrandt oversaw the communication efforts of 36 sports. He expanded media platforms for the department and maintained the athletics website. During the 2014-15 school year, Ankenbrandt aided in producing 100 videos for the department and over 500 press releases.

This marks the second time that Ankenbrandt has worked with Founder John McCarthy. For the final three years of the National Women’s Lacrosse League, Ankenbrandt served as the Sports Information Director. He ran the communication efforts for three National Championships and created the first National Championship website.
