Jim Spivey

Jim Spivey led the Savages to four straight trips to the NAIA Tournament, from 1954 to 1957, where they advanced to the National Championship game in both 1955 and 1957.  During his four-year run in the NAIA Tournament, he set the all-time scoring record, along with breaking records for the most free throws in a game and a career.  In 1957, he was the NAIA Tournament’s MVP when he averaged 44 points per game over 5 games in the tournament.

Spivey was named All Conference and NAIA All American in 1955, 1956 and 1957.  He was named as a member of the NAIA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams, and has been inducted into the NAIA and Helms Hall of Fames.
